Kodi Version 19 Matrix has now been released & if like many others you have found your addons or builds are no longer working, you are not alone. I have had many of you reach out saying that since the update some of your addonsbuilds are not working correctly anymore.

If you have experienced or are experiencing the error ‘Failed to Install a Dependency’ this tutorial will guide you step-by-step on things to try to resolve it.

The error ‘Failed to Install a Dependency’ usually occurs when trying to install a Kodi addon or build.

What does this error mean?

When you receive the error ‘Failed to Install a Dependency’ or similar, this is a result of there being several dependant files that are not installed. These files are needed before the addon or build can be installed correctly.

When you install an addon or build, these dependency files are usually also installed along with the addon or build. However on occasion they are not, resulting in an error.

This tutorial will show you several ways you can try to resolve this issue.

Most errors in Kodi can be fixed simply by clearing the cache. This process is easy to do but may be different depending on your device.

On your device, within settings find Kodi:

Android Box: Settings – Apps – Kodi – Select: Clear Cache

Firestick/Fire Cube/Fire TV: Settings – Applications – Manage Installed Applications – Kodi – Select: Clear Cache

Nvidia Shield: Settings – Apps – Kodi – Select: Clear Cache

Windows/Linux/Mac: The easiest way to clear cache within Kodi on these devices is to install an addon that will do it for you. For a step-by-step tutorial on how to install this addon click the link below:

The TVAddons Repository can be really helpful in resolving many issues, not just the ‘Failed to Install a Dependency’ error due to the fact it contains many dependant files that may be missing from your Kodi.

Install TVAddons & see if it resolves the issue. Watch the video or follow the Step-by-step tutorial below.

1. Open Kodi. Select the Cog icon

2. Select System

3. Select Add-ons

4. Select Unknown sources to toggle it on

5. Select Yes

6. Return to the System page. Select File manager

7. Select Add source

8. Select < None >

9. Enter the following URL. Make sure you enter it exactly as even a small mistake may give you an error: http://fusion.tvaddons.co

Once entered select OK

10. We now need to enter a name for the source, select the area under Enter a name for this media source.

11. Enter a name, I like to use a name I can easily find. However you can enter any name here

Once entered select OK

12. Select OK

13. Go back to the previous screen. Select Add-ons

14. Select Install from zip file

15. Select Yes

16. Find & select the source we entered earlier (for this example I called mine fusion)

17. Select kodi-repos

18. Select english

19. Scroll down, find & select repository.xbmchub-3.0.0.zip (this name may be slightly different)

20. Wait for confirmation to appear on-screen

Now try again to install the addon or build where you received the error ‘Failed to Install a Dependency’ & see if this has resolved the issue.

Although this is a quick way to try & resolve the issue, this will remove all data from Kodi. If you are going to complete this step understand that ALL DATA WILL BE LOST!

This process is easy to do but may be different depending on your device.

On your device, within settings find Kodi:

Android Box: Settings – Apps – Kodi – Select: Clear Data

Firestick/Fire Cube/Fire TV: Settings – Applications – Manage Installed Applications – Kodi – Select: Clear Data

Nvidia Shield: Settings – Apps – Kodi – Select: Clear Data

Windows/Linux/Mac: Your operating system will determine what process you need to follow. All operating systems have a program/tool for uninstalling applications (within most operating systems you can do a search. Try searching for ‘uninstall’ or ‘uninstalling applications’. Find this & then locate Kodi to uninstall it.

You can then re-install Kodi.
