World Cup 2022 is finally almost here at an unprecedented time of year for the biggest football competition on the planet. Taking place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 32 teams will compete in eight groups, with the first game being the hosts, Qatar vs Ecuador, at the Al Bayt Stadium, with kick-off at 4 pm UK time.
Every game will be shown live across BBC and ITV, with each main TV channel broadcasting every match for free.
BBC and ITV are only available in the UK. If you are not located in the UK and want to stream content from either of these sources, then you may be able to use a VPN to bypass any location blocks.
NordVPN is my recommendation because it has strong unblocking capabilities. If you currently use IPVanish as your VPN and want to unblock streaming services, I would consider switching to my recommended VPN. Despite IPVanish being a safe and secure VPN, it does not have excellent unblocking capabilities. Furthermore, you will struggle to use streaming services based outside your location.

How to Install BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub
If you are based in the UK you can watch live on BBC One or ITV channels. You can also search your Appstore for both BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub to install them. However, if you are outside the UK, you may be able to sideload them. To do so, your device must be capable of installing apps from unknown sources. Once your device is enabled for sideloading, you can install the apps from my Downloads page.
Sideload BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub - Firesticks, Fire TV, Android & Android TV
- Firstly, ensure you have enabled sideloading on your device.
- Open the Downloader app, then select the Search box.
- Enter 28907, then select Go.
- Wait for my Download page to load fully, then press the Menu (or Options) button on your remote 2x to enter full-screen mode.
- Select the UK TV category from the list at the top of the page. Or move down to view the UK TV category.
- Find the BBC iPlayer or ITV Hub app in the list, then select it.
- On the next page, move down until you see the blue Download – Fire TV/Android TV button.
- Select the Download – Fire TV/Android TV button, then select Install.
- When the app has finished installing, select Delete 2x to remove the installation file, as it’s no longer required.

Sideload BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub - Android Phones and Tablets
- Firstly, ensure you have enabled sideloading on your device.
- Open a web browser and go to firetvsticks.com.
- Select Downloads from the menu.
- Select the UK TV category from the list at the top of the page. Or move down to view the UK TV category.
- Find the BBC iPLayer or ITV Hub app in the list, then select it.
- On the next page, move down until you see the blue Download – Mobile button.
- Select the Download – Mobile button, then select Download.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to view the downloaded APK file and tap on it.
- Then select Install.

Make sure to open your VPN app and connect to a UK server BEFORE opening the BBC iPlayer or ITV Hub app. Not all VPNs will work to unblock iPlayer and ITV Hub. My recommendation is NordVPN, as it has proven strong unblocking capabilities.
