Give Mouse Toggle Special Permissions
The MATVT mouse toggle app needs special permissions to work correctly. This includes the ability to draw over other running apps and requires adjustments to the device’s accessibility settings. Let’s do that next.
- Open MATVT and you’ll notice the Service Status shows that the required permissions are not currently granted. Select Setup Permissions.
If you are not automatically directed to the next settings and see a “No application can handle this action” message, don’t worry! Just continue by following these steps:
- Head to your device home screen and open the Settings menu.
- Then navigate to System.
- Select Accessibility.
- You can find and select the Mouse Toggle Service to enable it here.
- After, choose Configuration if you wish to return to the MATVT app.
You should now see that all required permissions have been granted and are running correctly to enable you to use mouse toggle.
Using Your New Mouse Toggle Functionality
To activate the mouse toggle on your Android/Google TV, long-press the mute button on your remote control (the mute button is typically set as the default option).
Once activated, a cursor will appear on your screen.
You can navigate using the directional buttons on your remote, and select items by pressing the Select button.
This effectively transforms your remote into a makeshift mouse.
If your remote does not have a mute button, you can customise a specific button in the MATVT settings. Here’s how:
- Open the MATVT app and scroll to the bottom of the screen, then select Detect.
- Press and hold any button on your remote for 3 seconds to designate it as your Boss Key.
- The Boss Key enables you to toggle the mouse toggle service on and off, as well as switch between scroll mode and D-Pad mode.
Troubleshooting Common Issues with the Mouse Toggle
Sometimes, you may encounter issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps to consider:
- If your cursor isn’t appearing, double-check that you’ve enabled accessibility services and USB debugging.
- If necessary, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
- If the app crashes, make sure your TV’s firmware is up to date.
- If the mouse toggle activates but doesn’t click or select, it may be a compatibility issue with your device, and unfortunately, MATVT might not work for you. In this case, or if the mouse toggle isn’t functioning on your Android/Google TV, consider investing in a Bluetooth mouse.
