What is Peacock?
Peacock is an over-the-top free ad-supported video on-demand streaming service owned by NBC Universal and was launched in July 2020. The service brings together NBC network shows, original series and popular movies. Thanks to its ever-expanding line-up, its popularity is steadily and still growing. At the present time, it has over 26 million monthly active users.
Is Peacock Free?
Yes. Peacock does offer free content but there are other plans available too. Premium and Premium Plus both offer subscription based viewing.
The FREE tier gives you free access to 40,000+ hours of free content, although this is supported by ads. But the ads are limited to 5 minutes per hour so it’s really not that bad. Also, with the free tier, new episodes of NBC shows will become available to watch for free the week after they are aired. Take a look at my Peacock review video for details.
The PREMIUM tier costs $4.99 per month and unlocks everything that Peacock has to offer, every movie, every episode, every season, live sports including matches from the Premier League, MLB Sunday Leadoff, Sunday Night Football as well as WWE Network shows and PPV events. That’s altogether over 60,000 hours of content! You still have ads with the Premium tier but you will get new episodes available the day after their premiere.
The PLUS tier costs $9.99 per month and includes everything in the Premium tier but without the ads. However, there is some small print when signing up to the Premium Plus service. Due to streaming rights, a small amount of programming will still contain ads. You also get the option to download and watch select titles offline.
What Content Does Peacock Have?
Free
In the free tier, you can watch movies such as Minions, 1917, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Sicario, The Pursuit of Happyness, Dark Waters, and the IP Man franchise. TV shows you can watch for free include titles such as Queer as Folk, Killing It, Botched, Love Island, Bel-Air, Parks and Recreation, The Office, 30 Rock, Frasier, Blacklist, Chicago Med, Law & Order, Modern Family and Columbo.
The free tier also includes a line-up of over 30 channels of 24/7 streaming with a guide that shows what’s on now and next. You can find channels such as crime, reality TV, news, classic shows and clips from Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show, English Premier League and WWE. Premium and Plus
Anything that has a purple feather on the thumbnail indicates content you can watch only if you have a subscription. There are currently some really great TV titles and movie franchises such as The Fast and Furious, Spider-Man, Back to the Future, Twilight, Saw, Schindler’s List, 300, E.T., Stir Crazy, The ‘Brubs, The Blues Brothers, White Men Can’t Jump, Midway, The Affair, Bates Motel and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Sports
Peacock has a significantly decent selection of sports and live sports if you upgrade to PREMIUM or PLUS. You get all live sports and events for the English Premier League, WWE, Sunday Night Football as well as MLB Sunday Leadoff.
WWE has its own dedicated section since Peacock became the exclusive streaming home of the WWE Network. The complete WWE Network archive will soon be available for subscribers to Peacock Premium. This includes every live WWE PPV event, thousands of hours of on-demand programming and every episode of Raw, Smackdown and NXT. Where is Peacock Available?
The Peacock app is presently available in the US and certain US territories. Although this is due to expand sometimes in 2022. In partnership with Sky, Peacock is also available for Sky subscribers in the UK and Ireland. But if you can’t get Peacock in your area and want to stream content from the Peacock app then you may be able to use a VPN to bypass any location blocks.
NordVPN is my recommendation because it has strong unblocking capabilities. If you presently use IP Vanish as your VPN and want to unblock streaming services, I would consider switching to my recommended VPN. Despite IP Vanish being a safe and secure VPN, it does not have very good unblocking capabilities. Furthermore, you will struggle to use streaming services that are based outside of your location.

Do I Need to Sign Up
Yes. You do need to sign up for an account to watch anything on the Peacock platform. However, signing up is completely free by entering a few details. You must also have a valid US Zip Code (hint – use Google!)

How Can I Get the App?
Peacock is available to stream on most of your devices. Simply search your app store for Peacock to install it.
But if you can’t get Peacock from your app store then you may be able to sideload it. To do so, your device must be capable of installing apps from unknown sources. Once your device is enabled for sideloading, you can then install the Peacock app from my Downloads page. Take a look at my Peacock review video. Otherwise, follow the step-by-step instructions below.
- First make sure you have enabled sideloading on your device
- Open Downloader then select the Search box
- Type in 28907 then select Go
- Wait for my Downloads page to fully load then press the Menu (or Options) button on your remote 2x to enter full-screen mode
- Move down the page to view the 'Movies and TV' section
- Find the Peacock app in the list then select it
- On the next page, move down until you see the 'Download' button
- Select the Download button then select Install
- When the app has finished installing, select Delete 2x to remove the installation file as it's no longer required
- Go to your apps page then open the Peacock app!

By using a VPN you can choose your location then connect to the correct server to overcome blocks on your streaming.
